If you have been using the cheapie Walmart variety gravity flow feeders to find food getting jammed and water overflowing, spend the money on this pair. I have 4 small dogs, and the most senior tends to drop food into the water basin. On the old cheapie, that meant emptying and refilling. Because of the snap on fitment of the valve on this one, it is easy to remove the tank, wash and replace the bowl without spillage. The old gravity feeder would constantly clog and the bowl would be empty. So far, this one seems to flow easily without getting jammed. It is just much better designed. All this and the non-slip mat makes it a worthwhile investment
